Zimbabwe faces strike action by Doctors over inadequate drugs And medical equipment

Zimbabwe is again facing strike action by medical doctors. Senior physicians at Zimbabwe’s foremost health facility, Parirenyatwa hospital in Harare, have walked off their jobs in protest against shortage of essential drugs and equipment.
They said in a letter to health minister, Obadiah Moyo, they had had enough.

They said the same issues that forced junior doctors off their jobs last year have not been resolved.  Senior doctors had to step in to fill the void during that industrial action.
The senior doctors say medical consumables and equipment are now even worse than in December, and are now causing severe compromise in the safety and working conditions of staff.  The say it has reduced their capacity to deliver services to patients.
Nurses and junior doctors went on strike on separate occasions last year demanding better working conditions.
