Edna Adan Hospital to receive renewable energy system to power facility.
ImpactPPA (IPP) and Earth Day Network
(EDN) today announced that they have entered into an agreement to
promote the use of clean renewable energy around the world.
For 48 years EDN has been the leading advocate in the environmental movement worldwide and has been an effective vehicle for promoting a healthy, sustainable environment. EDN's mission is to educate and activate individuals and groups on environmental issues and challenges, advance the green economy, and to coordinate Earth Day worldwide.
As an emerging decentralized energy platform, IPP believes its technologies are fully aligned with EDN's vision. The company has created a complete end-to-end energy generation solution that even manages mobile device payment. IPP's blockchain-based platforms serves as a foundation for implementing renewable energy technologies.
IPP and EDN entered into an agreement to help provide access to clean energy in order to better the planet and the lives of millions of people in need. This agreement provides a framework in which EDN and IPP can implement projects across the globe in tandem.
As a first project, IPP and EDN will implement a renewable energy system at the Edna Adan Hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The hospital, which provides maternity care and has treated over 21,000 women throughout Africa, represents the life's work of Ms. Adan, whose dedication to offering support and medical treatment to women in need is an inspiration to all involved with IPP and EDN.
The Edna Adan Hospital provides training for health professionals as well as free treatment to many patients who need special surgery.
IPP CEO Dan Bates believes that the Edna Adan Hospital represents the perfect launching pad for this partnership with EDN. Bates says,
Ms. Adan believes the support of EDN and IPP will not only assist in reducing hospital costs, but will also usher in a new era in which she and her staff will have the opportunity to increase the available resources they can offer women in need of maternity assistance and treatment.

IPP CEO Dan Bates believes that the Edna Adan Hospital represents the perfect launching pad for this partnership with EDN. Bates says,
"When we started talking about working with EDN, we were looking for a project that would not only showcase the use of clean energy and the blockchain, but one that would also offer access to energy and immediately benefit people's lives. The Edna Adan Hospital became the perfect location for our first project together. The energy that we generate will power the hospital's equipment and, subsequently, dramatically reduce the hospital's electrical expenses, which are greater than $0.50/kWh. The money saved will go directly back into the care and services that Edna and her team provide for these women in need."
Ms. Adan believes the support of EDN and IPP will not only assist in reducing hospital costs, but will also usher in a new era in which she and her staff will have the opportunity to increase the available resources they can offer women in need of maternity assistance and treatment.
"I am grateful and honored that the Edna Adan Hospital has been chosen by EDN and IPP as the first project of this partnership. The gift of clean energy will not only help us efficiently manage our operational costs, but it will also greatly increase the available resources for the women who so desperately need our help. I look forward to the success of this project and the benefit that so many others will receive," said Ms. Adan.In addition to implementing the renewable energy system at the Edna Adan Hospital, EDN and IPP hope to replicate similar projects across the world, with the goal of "50 by 50"— 50 projects completed by the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in by 2020.
"Edna Adan's work has been an inspiration to all of us and has been the impetus for Earth Day Network to join with ImpactPPA to directly improve the lives of so many" said Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network."This initiative will not only showcase technology but have a real, quantifiable, impact on people all over the world who need clean energy. Clean accessible energy can provide a critical lifeline to life saving care."
